Church of Our Lord, affectionately known by its acronym COOL, is one of the oldest church congregations in Victoria. Faithfully serving Victoria since 1874, we combine a respect for the rich heritage of our past with relevance for all generations today. Beautiful worship, together with a friendly atmosphere and warm loving spirit, continue to attract many to come and discover the new life which Jesus offers. We are excited about what God is doing amongst us and would love you to come and visit at one of the Sunday Services or weekday activities. Mission Statement"Know and love our Lord, to go and grow His Church" This statement includes the following; 1. "Church" and "Our Lord" - reflecting our name. 2. "Know" implies both a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and the need for teaching and training in discipleship. 3. "Love" expresses both our love relationship with God in worship, as well as our fellowship with one another in the Body of Christ. 4. "Go" is the word given by God to his people to obey him in becoming pro-active. 5. "Growing the church" encompasses many things; from growing up in maturity and in our relationship with God, to growing together in our relationships with one another, to growing in serving one another in ministry, to growing out in our relationship with the world through serving in mission. This is very much in keeping with the original vision of the church. When Bishop Edward Cridge founded The Church of our Lord in 1874, he was already known in the settlement of Victoria as a man who lived out his considerable faith in God. Not only did he and his wife care for orphans, which was the foundation for the extensive minstry now known as the Cridge Centre for the Family, he was the first inspector of schools in Victoria, was the founder of the Royal Jubilee Hospital, and involved in many other great projects. Further on you can read about the existing outreach programs currently active in The Church of our Lord. Our Vision/Mission is to continue to grow into the visible and vital force
in the way the Cridges so beautifully exemplified, and to serve and
impact the people of this city with the love of Christ.
