As part of our beliefs, we subscribe to the values and principles of the following;

Reformed - as having our roots in the English Reformation and including such principles as the priesthood of all believers, salvation through the finished work of Christ on the Cross, and the authority of The Bible. We would also see reformation as an ongoing reality, as we need to be constantly reformed, transformed and renewed through the ministry of the Word and Holy Spirit.

Episcopal - which literally means overseer, shows our belief in the exercising of strong leadership in the Church. This includes the oversight of the local churches by Presbyters, meaning Elders, and the oversight of Diocese, meaning groups of churches in regional areas, by Bishops/Episcopoi/Overseers.

Liturgical - simply means the order and form of service, something which all churches do have. We follow a written liturgical structure which is rooted in scripture and gives order to the service, but this is also combined with different expressions of musical style and worship, giving a wonderful diversity and richness. Our worship services offer a unique blend of traditional and contemporary liturgy and music, balancing reverence and joyful celebration. You will also enjoy the warmth and friendliness of a loving church family.

Evangelical - as sinners who fall short of God’s perfection, we believe in the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, the authority of the Word of God as governing our doctrine and as our guide for life, and the commission to go and spread the gospel/good news of Jesus Christ, both in our immediate communities, and in all the world.

Charismatic - we are invited to be filled with God’s charis, meaning grace, and to manifest the charismata, meaning gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives. God has equipped and gifted his whole church to exercise the same ministry of Jesus in the world, with the renewing power, authority, and graciousness of the Holy Spirit as He enables us to live out our faith.

Denomination

The Church of Our Lord is a member of the Anglican Church in North America and the Reformed Episcopal Church, which is rooted in the English Reformation with a commitment to the Book of Common Prayer, an Episcopal form of church leadership, and affirming the Nicene Creed as a basis of our beliefs. Canada is divided into the Diocese of Eastern Canada, and our own Diocese of Western Canada & Alaska, with the Rt. Rev. Charles Dorrington as Bishop.

Anglican Church in North America

On December 3, 2008, in Wheaton, Illinois, the leading bishops of a number of jurisdictions through North America signed onto the Constitution and Canons of a new Anglican expression. It is appropriately named the Anglican Church in North America. Some 700 churches with 100,000 members now plan a major outreach to Canada’s and the U.S.'s more than 130 million unchurched people free of the liberalism and gospel-denying denominations they have left behind. The preamble to the new church's constitution says its leaders are "grieved by the current state of brokenness within the Anglican Communion prompted by those who have embraced erroneous teaching and who have rejected a repeated call to repentance." "The Anglican Communion itself in its official documents talks about how the fabric of the Communion has been torn by the actions of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada," stated Robert Lundy, a spokesman for the American Anglican Council. The launch of the new Anglican Church in North America, an outgrowth of the Common Cause Partners Federation, has been positioned such that there is reasonable hope that Primates of the Anglican Communion, perhaps beginning with the GAFCON Primates' Council, might begin to recognize the entity as a province in the Anglican Communion. The Jerusalem gathering of GAFCON gave a call for such a new province to be formed, and the approval of a provisional Constitution and Canons of the ACNA is seen as the beginning of this process.

The Reformed Episcopal Church is a founding partner in this new Province, and as such, has taken a leading role through our Presiding Bishop, in the formulation of its Constitution and Canons. There are still some areas of this document that will need to be worked through to the satisfaction of all concerned, but we all have promised that this new Province will adhere to Scripture and be an orthodox and conservative body of believers. The Holy Bible will remain as our sole rule of faith, and the Book of Common Prayer as our template of Christian worship.

Please pray for the leadership of this new Province, and for the Primates throughout the world who are solidly in support of its creation.

In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ,

+Charles Dorrington, Bishop
